STANDARDIZE YOUR MSSQL INSTALL TECHNIQUE

In the enterprise, it is important that each database instance be configured as similarly as possible in order to mitigate support resources. Performing the instance installation using the silent mode is a step in the right direction because the inputs are specified using a file rather than a complex wizard, which is prone to error and cannot be standardized. MSSQL 2005 ships with an example sql2005.ini file which you can customize with the values you desire. After that has been done, installation is simpler than when using the interactive option – all you need to do is run this command:
