NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--The following companies issued venture-capital announcements on Tuesday:

Cevena Bioproducts Inc.

Cevena Bioproducts Inc., Edmonton, Alberta, received $6 million in funding. The Business Development Bank of Canada's Venture Capital Group led the round, which included Golden Opportunities Fund. Cevena Bioproducts develops technically advanced grain-based ingredients for nutritional products.

DbMotion, Tel-Aviv, Israel, raised $10.2 million in series B funding. Gemini Israel Funds led the round, which included Venture Capital and Pitango Venture Capital. DbMotion develops Virtual Patient Record technology.

Cloverleaf Communications

Cloverleaf Communications, Southborough, Mass., secured $11 million in series C funding. The round was led by new investor Hyperion Israel Venture Partners and included Bank of America, Genesis and Elta Systems. The funds will be used for sales, marketing and business development efforts. Cloverleaf Communications provides storage networking systems.

Exagen Diagnostics Inc.

Exagen Diagnostics Inc., Albuquerque, N.M., received $7 million in series B funding. Tullis-Dickerson & Co. led the round, which included vSpring Capital and Wasatch Venture Fund. Exagen Diagnostics develops IVD kits that measure genomic markers for prognostic or predictive testing.

GridApp Systems Inc.

GridApp Systems Inc., New York, gained $5 million in series A funding. The round was led by Ascend Venture Group and included Advantage Capital Partners. The funds will be used for sales and marketing efforts. GridApp Systems develops software for database infrastructure management.

Netcordia, Annapolis, Md., secured $3 million of equity financing from Novak Biddle Venture Partners. The funds will be used for product development and to build infrastructure for new market growth and sales. Netcordia provides network management systems.

Torax Medical Inc., Minneapolis, gained $10 million in series B funding. Thomas, McNerney & Partners and Sanderling Ventures led the round, which included Mayo Medical Ventures. Peter McNerney of Thomas, McNerney & Partners will join the company's board. Torax Medical is a clinical stage medical device company.
