GridApp Announces Enhancements to Database Platform for Oracle RAC

GridApp Systems, the provider of database automation software and solutions, has announced several enhancements to its D25000 database appliance, which it calls the industry's only fully automated and virtualized database environment for Oracle RAC. The D2500 improvements include integration with third-party monitoring and management systems, the ability to manage every type of storage technology for Oracle RAC, a new storage management interface for Oracle RAC, and support for 64-bit Oracle on Linux.

According to Matt Zito, chief scientist at GridApp, many organizations want to take advantage of Oracle clustering but cannot because they lack the resources and expertise. "RAC is a complicated environment. It forces the DBA to make storage decisions, operating system decisions, network decisions - it is tough enough to find someone just well-versed in the database," he told 5 Minute Briefing during a private interview. D2500 integrates with existing monitoring and management systems by leveraging the industry-standard SNMP (simple network management protocol) for generating alerts and events. Added support for the Oracle Cluster File System 2 allows D2500 to manage every type of storage technology for Oracle RAC - all within a unified interface. For more information, click here.
