Jasmine Noel, analyst for Ptak, Noel & Associates, and Matthew Zito, chief scientist of GridApp Systems, will address changes that have taken place in the data center over the past year. The session will also discuss challenges that have arisen and equip IT teams responsible for the database with best practices for confronting these issues.
More than ever, the industry is realizing the efficiency that automation tools can afford data centers -- made evident from the purchases of Opsware by HP and BladeLogic by BMC. Automating the database tier is the next stop in the data center automation road map. According to Jasmine Noel, a single Database Administrator (DBA) manages 18-25 databases and the market is continuing to grow by 10% annually, which for many companies means the addition of two new DBAs per year. This system is not scalable and with the use of database automation software, companies will be able to increase the database to DBA ratio to make their existing staff more productive.
